This list grew from a single person: Peter Stormare. I love his acting, and his characters, and while he’s not exactly ‘hot’, he’s interesting, and I would say ‘sexy’. I feel that you can not be the prettiest person around, but if you are interesting, deep, and ‘cool’, then that’s what sexy is. (Does this mean I’m ‘bringing sexy back’? Oh, god. I hope not.)
There are no links because I’m lazy. However, I have listed what they’re from/my favorite of their characters, and a short analysis. Have fun, and tell me who’s your favorite. Also, who would you add to the list? Who would you take away?
Note: These guys had to be over 40 to be on the list. Also, I tried to stay away from the real ‘A-listers’, hence, no Johnny Depp. (Besides, we all know he’s hot. No question there, right?)
Note: Two honorable mentions, for two more Whoniverse actors: David Tennant and John Simm. Simm is 38, Tennant is 37. They’re not quite old enough, but I feel funky about not putting them on my list! (Also David Boreanaz. But you all know about my DB/Angel obsession.) David Tennant is awesome for several reasons, but the main one is that he’s not always himself. Let me clarify: sometimes, when you watch him, he’s the perfect Doctor. And sometimes he’s more like Barty Crouch Jr. And they’re completely different. David Tennant is one of THE best actors around, because he changes nothing about his appearance (both Crouch and the Doctor wear suits) and they are so very very different. Arg..! Does anyone else notice this? Aren’t I right? *is confused* John Simm, aka The Master, was very very cool at the end of Series 3. And hot...again, like several other actors, not exactly ‘good-looking’ (not traditionally hot) but interesting...I like! I want to see more of him.
On to the real list!
40 and up
Daniel Craig (40) He’s ‘my’ Bond. Well, not really. But he’s hot. I first saw him playing an American in the first Tomb Raider movie. Angelina Jolie is seriously lucky: Gerard Butler AND Daniel Craig?
Aaron Eckhart (40) Not traditionally ‘hot’, but interesting nonetheless. He was great in Thank You for Smoking, and he’ll be awesome as Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight .
Michael Weatherly (40) Omigod. *drools* I first noticed him as Anthony Dinozzo in NCIS and he is hottt. He was also in Dark Angel, with reading glasses, which, as you all know, is one of my biggest kinks. Very, very hot. And also cute...not all guys can manage that, you know.
Hugh Jackman (40) Possibly the best guy for Wolverine. Also as an adorable courtly-type in Kate and Leopold. Good looking, seems like a great guy. Yes, he borders on A-list. But he’s so humble! (I think. That needs a citation.) And he still does stage work, because (I think) he honestly enjoys it.)
John Barrowman (41) How could I not include Captain Jack Harkness? There is no way. As eta says, he’s not exactly ‘good-looking’, but he has charisma! and sex appeal! and he looks like he’s having fun as himself. (Okay: he’s not ‘bad-looking’, he’s just one of those people you’re not sure why they’re attractive, because something is off. But he’s hot.) He’s awesome, and the fact that the Captain has a ginormous crush on the Doctor? Cute as hell.
Alexis Denisof (42) Wesley! Possibly my favoritest character on Angel/BtVS. Okay, he’s behind Angel, but still! He’s British, and tormented, and hot, and glasses! and unshaven! and cute! and gangly! And his character development is oh. so. good. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Joss, for making such a well-rounded character. (Although his RL accent is funny...it’s Bostonian British. Very weird.)
Mark Sheppard (44) He’s Badger! In Firefly! OMG. Perfect character, perfect acting. I wish to see more of him on TV. (And ETA would have killed me if I didn’t put him on the list.)
Jason Isaacs (45) Whenever Jason Isaacs puts on a wig, I grovel. Okay, not strictly true, but my favorite characters of his are Hook (from Peter Pan) and Lucius Malfoy (If you don’t know where that character’s from, crawl out of your deep, dank, dark hole and go read the Harry Potter books, forchrissakes.). One of the few actors that has been seen in both platinum blonde straight! and curly black wigs, and has looked very, very hot in both of them. *fans self* If I had to pick, it would be Hook, but only because it’s curly. And he’s a pirate. *g*
Eddie Izzard (46): is soo hot. The original executive transvestite, he makes me laugh until tears come out my eyes. So very, very amazing, and hot, and funny, and awesome, and, and….
Adam Baldwin (46) Not only is he Jayne, but also Marcus Hamilton. So he’s been on both Firefly and Angel. Woohoo! He’s also been in The X-Files, CSI:Miami, JAG, SG:1, NCIS, Bones and Chuck. Woah...everywhere you turn, Adam Baldwin. Not that I’m complaining, of course.
James Marsters (46) He’s Spike! And John Hart! One of the few to straddle the great divide between two of the largest ‘verses around: Whoniverse and Whedonverse. I don’t much care for his American accent, but as Spike, he’s a great tormented guy (great actor), and I loved his schizophrenia as Captain John Hart. His obsession with Jack was a little...unsettling, which just shows how good an actor he is.
Hugo Weaving (48) Mr Smith and V. This guy, like Snape, takes over any movie he’s in. Mr Smith is not the main character in the Matrix Trilogy, but he’s a helluva lot more memorable, and better acted. I like him, even if he is scary as hell. He was also completely awesome as V in Vendetta. I’m not sure anyone else could have pulled it off. Hmm...now I want him to be a voice actor...
honorable mention, as he’s not an actor: Neil Gaiman (48) Do I really need to give a reason? Fine, here’s three: he’s a completely awesome author, he’s down-to-earth, and he’s adorable. If Dream were played by the ideal guy, it would be Gaiman.
Extra! Dream Team Combo: Neil Gaiman (writing), Tim Burton (producing), Henry Selick (directing), Danny Elfman (music), Johnny Depp (main character). And some other people, probably from this list...
Hugh Laurie (49) House! He’s so adorabibble. And he’s so very British without sounding British and that’s awesome. Can’t wait to see what more happens with him!
50 and up
Gary Oldman (50) Awesome as Sirius Black, although not my personal pick. Awesome as Rosencrantz, and Dracula, and Zorg (although so weird!), and as Inspector Gordon in the new Batman movies. He’s what’s known as a ‘chameleon’ actor: he’s equally good at the weird stuff, and the dramatic stuff, and the comedic stuff, and he looks different in each of them. Possibly one of the most interesting guys on the list.
Stephen Fry (51) Mostly because I loved him as Deitrich in V for Vendetta. Also because of Fry and Laurie, and in Bones as Dr Gordon Wyatt. He’s narrated/done voice acting for a lot of wonderful things, and he has the perfect narrator voice. Things he’s narrated/voice acted: the HP games, Mirrormask and Hitchhiker’s Guide. He’s also been on Blackadder! Zomg.
David Caruso (52) I love him as Horatio Caine on CSI:Miami. He’s so very trustworthy, and a ‘tough guy’. ETA is right about his bad one-liners, but they’re also awesome. *loves on H*
Gary Sinise (53) Oh! CSI:NY guy, you are awesome. I love you as Mac, for many of the same reasons as David Caruso, but also because the characterization is great. I like CSI:NY basically because of him (and how cool is his photographic memory?).
Anthony Stewart Head (54) Gileses! I love me my Gileses (as most of my friends know). Before there was Wesley, there was Giles, and Giles is very, very awesome. My ideal guy has a a lot of Giles in him. His sense of humor, the tweed waistcoats, very literate, reliable, and generally awesome! Also, the musician part is very cool too. Glasses! omg.
Peter Stormare (55) How could I not include Peter Stormare when he’s the reason for the list? My favorite film of his is CONSTANTINE. He is pitch-perfectas Satan. I also love his car commercials (BMW? *is uncertain*) and he was great in Chocolat. Like I said before: not traditionally good-looking, but awesome and interesting nonetheless.
another honorable mention: Danny Elfman (55) My favoritest music composer EVAR. Awesome things about him: he was in a band, (Oingo Boingo is one of my top ten fave bands.) he did NBC music, he works with Tim Burton A LOT, he did Batman, Spiderman, AND Hulk, as well as Beetlejuice, Men In Black, Spy Kids, Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, Fable, Chicago Corpse Bride, Meet the Robinsons and Wanted. Awesome music. *loves*
Liam Neeson (56) Mostly because of Qui-Gon. And also because of Aslan. *pauses* Do I really need to explain?
Mark Harmon (57) NCIS!!! Gibbs!!! Awesome, for mostly the same reasons as Gary Sinise and David Caruso. Puts up with less (more?) shit, though.
60 and up
Alan Rickman (62) I love, love, love him as Snape. Probably one of the few castings in the HP movies that I have 0 (count ‘em: zero) quibbles about. Perfect for the role, and unbelievably hot/amazing. Many people have suspected that Snape quietly took over the film...with Alan Rickman playing him, who would stand in his way? Also, he was completely awesome as Metatron in Dogma. *loves*
Stephen Rea (62) Another V for Vendetta guy! He was Inspector Finch, and even though he was technically working against V, you rooted for him anyway! I loved his character. (I think I have a thing for detectives…)
Tim Curry (62) Well, first off, Rocky Horror. And Clue! And he was a voice actor in Fern Gully (does anyone else remember that movie?) One of my favorite parts of his is the Cat King, from The Cat Returns, my second-favorite Miyazaaki film.
Ron Glass (63) Book! Hello, Book. So awesome, and well-acted, and the whole mysterious past thing? *loves* (Oh, for those of you going ‘Whuhuh?’, he was in Firefly.)
Patrick Stewart (68) Possibly the first time I ever thought about a guy ‘that way’ was Patrick Stewart as Captain Jean-Luc Picard. He was also great as Professor Xavier. He also did cut-out narration for Nightmare Before Christmas! So very cool.
Ian McKellen (69) Two reasons, not that you need more than one: Gandalf, and Magneto. Also, he was the voice of Iorek Byrnison, which is one of the very few reasons why I want to watch Golden Compass. He also did the narration for Stardust, which I thought was an apt adaptation of Mr Gaiman’s fairy tale for grownups.
70 and up
Michael Caine (75) Before Batman, he was in Goldmember. And Miss Congeniality. He was also in The Prestige, and he was a very cool guy when younger. (He’s still cool, but now he’s awesome, too.) This guy still has it, and he’s one of the best actors out there.

BTW, what! no Sean Connery? The older that man gets the hotter he gets.
I didn't include Sean Connery because we all know he's hot--no questions asked. I was trying to highlight some lesser known/less 'hot' (according to hollywood) guys.
Thanks for your input and I hope you enjoyed my post!
